Wife. Mother. Friend. Business Owner. Champion of Causes.
Linda Carol Thornton was born in Dallas on January 19, 1956. She was released from her pain and suffering on September 13, 2005.
During her life, Linda was a pioneer in the Special Events industry. She took the business she and her husband Ken started out of their small 2 bedroom home and grew it until it became the industry leader it is today. Along the way she raised her family and kept the business on track while becoming involved in various organizations and charities. A few of the organizations she touched are Meeting Planners International (MPI), International Special Events Society (ISES), Ronald McDonald House, Operation Kindness, Gilda’s Club of North Texas and last, but definitely not least, the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.
After she was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer, Linda did all she could to educate herself and others on this silent disease. In her time of need the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) was there to help support her. She found their knowledge, empathy and educational network to be invaluable in her crusade against Ovarian Cancer. She distributed many of their pamphlets to numerous doctors’ offices and she became a sponsor of their yearly walk – The Walk to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer. She wanted to do all she could to spare women and their families from enduring what she did.
Whether she was starting her own business and growing it into an industry leader, raising her family or supporting causes she believed in, Linda Thornton worked tirelessly and passionately to bring about her heartfelt vision. On September 26th, we will Walk to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer to honor her dedication and help bring an end to Ovarian Cancer. We invite you, friends and colleagues, to join us as Team FFE Texas.
