1. Take time to arrange your display in a way that is visually appealing - smaller pieces in front with larger items toward the back. Don't forget to bring display pieces with you or rent them (baskets for giveaways, a cup for pens, literature rack, etc).
2. A little decor goes a long way - bring some props with you or ask if there are props for rent to make your booth stand out even more. Often times there is a theme for the tradeshow and having something that ties in with that theme will give your booth a little extra oompf to be remembered by.
3. Bring lots of giveaways with your company information and logo (pens, business cards, water bottles - be creative). People love free things and will stop by to see what you have to offer.
4. Offer visitors to your booth something extra. Whether it is a treat, gift certificate or a prize drawing (have them drop off their business card or sign guestbook for easy follow up later) - a little incentive can go a long way in enticing someone to your booth and making your product or service stand out.
5. A PowerPoint presentation or slide show is a great way to draw the attention of passersby. Audio visual equipment can usually be rented if you don't have already have the necessary items.
6. Remember - a picture is worth 1,000 words so have photos on hand of your best work or favorite projects. Showcase whatever it is that makes your product or service special. People like to have something to look at so be sure to have a good representation of what you are offering available for them to see.
7. At some point you will need to take a break. Bringing someone along to help out is the best option, but you can't do that then leave a note saying when you will be back and a way to contact you if necessary.
8. Last but not least, bring your most positive and outgoing attitude. Make eye contact, smile, have a short intro prepared ahead of time, ask questions about what they are looking for and how you can help meet their needs and don't forget to have fun!
With a little preparation and the right attitude your trade show booth will be a success!
